Polite command form meaning: please give...

1. After noun + o
八時に電話をください。
Hachi ji ni denwa o kudasai.
Please give me a call at eight.
このズボンをください。
Kono jaketto to zubon o kudasai.
Please give me this jacket and these pants.
(I'll take this jacket and these pants.)
2. After te-form of verb
この漢字の書き方を教えてください。
Kono kanji no kakikata o oshiete kudasai.
Please teach me how to write this kanji.
3. After nai-form of verb + de
まだ行かないでください。
Mada ikanai de kudasai.

kurai くらい
Particle meaning: about, approximately,
as... as, to the extent of..., only, at
least, enough... to (do)
gurai ぐらい can be
used in place of kurai.
1. After noun expressing quantity/length
十冊くらい日本語の本を買いました。
Jussatsu kurai nihongo no hon o kaimashita.
I bought about ten Japanese language books.
彼女はオーストラリアに三ヶ月くらいいました。
Kanojo wa oosutoraria ni san kagetsu kurai
imashita.
She was in Australia for about three months.
毎日一時間くらいは勉強しなければならない。
Mainichi ichi jikan kurai wa benkyou
shinakereba naranai.
One must study at least one hour every day.
(kurau + wa means: at least)
2. After noun
誰もあなたくらい上手にテニスができません。
Dare mo anata kurai jouzu ni tenisu ga
dekimasen.
Nobody can play tennis as well as you.
それができるはあなたくらいです。
Sore ga dekiru no wa anata kurai desu.
You are the only one who can do it.
3. After demonstrative pronoun
それくらい私でも分かります。
Sore kurai watashi demo wakarimasu.
Even I can understand that much.
これくらいいい辞書は買った方がいい。
Kore kurai ii jisho wa katta hou ga ii.
It's better to buy a dictionary as good as
this one.
4. After dono

Kore wa dono kurai shimasu ka.
How much does this cost?

Eki made dono kurai kakarimasu ka.

desu.

read.
6. After nai-form of potential verb
今日はとても我慢できないくらい寒いです。
Kyou wa totemo gaman dekinai kurai samui
desu.
It is so cold today that I can't endure it.
(It is colder than I can endure today.)
もう歩けないくらい疲れた。
Mou arukenai kurai tsukareta.
I am tired to the extent that I can't walk
any more.
(I am too tired to walk any more.)
