  Madre e hijo (conclusión) (1) Mother and son (the end).
     
1 La Madre. - Prométeme por lo menos
que si algún día te ves apurado (2)...
G. - ¿Yo apurado? No me conoces...
M. - De todos modos, ¡prométemelo!
G. - Prometido.		 M. - Promise me at least

that if some day you find [see] yourself in trouble (See n. 2).
- G. - Me [I], in trouble? You don't know me.
- M. - In any way, promise me!
- G. - Promised.

2 M. - Que no hagas disparates, hijo mío...
Ten cuidado (3) con la gente que frecuentas.		 M. - And don't you do foolish things, my son.
Be prudent [have prudence] with the people you associate with.
3 G. - Descuida, mamá (4).
M. - Y esta noche? ¿Dónde vives?
G. - Todo Madrid es mío.		 G. - Don't worry, mother.
- M. - And to night? Where do you live ?
- G. - All Madrid is mine.
4 M. - ¿No comprendes que no puedo escucharte con tranquilidad ? M. - Don't you understand that I can't listen to you in peace?
5 G. - ¡Bah! ¡Peor están otros (5) ! Por mí no te preocupes...
M. - Gonzalo, por última vez... Si me quieres un poco...		 G. - Pooh! There are (people) who are worse (off).
Don't worry for me.
- M. - G., for the last time... If you love me a little...
6 G. - Te adoro... Pero déjame seguir mi camino.
Anda, sé buena, márchate;		 G. - I adore you... But let me -follow my way.
Come [go], be good, go;
7 y si papá te pregunta algo, dile :
Tu hijo es alguien. Verás qué cara pone (6).		 and if father asks you something, tell him :
your son is somebody.
You'll see what look [face] he puts (on).
8 M. - ¿Entonces, hasta cuándo?
G. - Hasta cuando sea. Te prometo que sabrás de mí...
Para tí no tengo secretos.

M. - Then, until when?
- G. - Until it (may) be. I promise you that you will hear [know] of me...
For you I have no secrets.

- 5 ... no se preocupe usted ...me quiere usted ....
- 6 le adoro ... déjeme usted ...sea ... márchese ...
- 7 le pregunta ... dígale : su hijo (de usted) ... Verá usted ...

  NOTES.

The end : el fin;
at the end : al fin;
at last, in fine : en fin or por fin.
For the end of a narrative in several installments, one says : conclusión.
2 Apurado : troubled, in trouble, in a fix.
Salir de apuro : to get out of trouble.

Un disparate, a foolish thing, action.
- Cuidado, care.
¡Atención! ¡Cuidado!, Mind! Look out!

Cuidar, to take care, look to.
- Descuidar, to be careless, to neglect.

Otros estan peor, others are worse (off), in a worse situation;
otros son peores, others are (naturally) worse.
