1 Что вы хотите?
— Я хотел бы найти квартиру. 		What do you want?
— I would (like to) find a flat.
     
2 Это не так легко. This is not so easy.
     
3 Мне сказали, что вы знаете, где свободная квартира. (They) told me that you know where (there is) an unoccupied [free] flat.
     
4 Кто это вам сказал? Who told you so?
   

AK: Who told you this?  "Who this /to you/ said?"
5 Ваш друг, товарищ Смирнов. Your friend, comrade Smirnov.
     
6 Ах! помню, совершенно верно;
здесь была свободная квартира.		 Oh, I remember, perfectly right;

ADDITIONAL EXERCISE
1 Он человек образованный. He is a cultured man.
2 Здесь нет ни одного образованного человека. (There is) not one cultured man here.
3 Русский язык красивый, но трудный. The Russian tongue is beautiful, but difficult.
4 Дайте мне грамматику русского языка. Give me a grammar (fem. accus.) of the Russian tongue (fem. genit.).
5 Идите в центр города. Go to the centre (masc. accus. for inanimate obj.) of the town (masc. genit).
6 Мы здесь в центре города. We (are) here in the center (masc. preposit.) of the town (masc. genit.).
7 Этот город грязный. This town is dirty.
8 В этом городе красивые бульвары. In this town (masc. prepos.) (there are) beautiful avenues (plur. masc.).

Я хочу : I will -> I wish; я хотел ([hat'el]) I would (preterit); я хотел бы, I would (conditional) (N. 6).

AK: I will means я буду, it's a future tense template.
я хотел бы means I'd like

Чем (tch'em) is the instrumental of что : in what, by means of what.

The form только что [толька-шта] followed by the past corresponds to our present past + just :
я только что сказал : I have just said.
— Он только что приехал : he has just arrived.
— Никто меня не знает; я никого не знаю: Nobody (nom.) knows me; I know nobody.

The suffix -ся of the reflective verbs becomes -сь in the plural past.
Он остановился, мы остановились.

Nominative : практика, practice; русский язык, the Russian tongue.

Nominative : образованная семья, the or a cultured family.

AK: use one to be more specific:

7 Десять рублей: 10 roubles.
— Рублей десять: about ten roubles.
