Adjective + する
  We learned in Lesson 10 how to say "become," as in samuku naru (become cold/colder) and joozu-ni naru (become good/better at doing X).
Here we learn to use adjectives together with the irregular verb suru, which in combination with adjectives means "to make."
   
  To make something "adjective".
冷たい -> 冷たくする To make some thing cold or colder.
tsumetai - tsumetaku suru  
簡単な -> 簡単にする To make something simple or simpler.
kantan - kantan-ni suru  

 

 
   
この間の試験は難しすぎたので、
次の試験は易しくして下さい.
Please make the next exam easier,
because the last one was too difficult. 
kono aida-no shiken-wa muzukashi-sugita no-de,
tsugino shiken-wa yasashiku-shite kudasai.
 
  irregular adjective 
いい -> よく good - better/well/often
ii - yoku  
みんなで世界をよくしましょう. Let's join our forces and make the world a better place.

minna-de, sekai-o yoku-shimashoo.

 
   
部屋をきれいにしました. I made the room clean.
heya-o kirei-ni shimashita.  
髪をボブ・マーリーみたいにしたいです. I want to make my hair like Bob Marley's.

kami-o bobu maarii mitai-ni shitai desu.

 
  Note also the following idiomatic use of this pattern:
静かにする

make it quiet -> keep quiet

shizuka-ni suru  
静かにして下さい. Please be quiet!
shizuka-ni shite kudasai!
