Name という Item - Name, to iu Item

  When you want to talk about a person or a thing that goes by a certain name, but if you believe the person you are talking with is not familiar with it, you can use the following pattern.

 (name) という - to iu (item)

(item) called "(name)"

   
ポチという犬を飼っていました。

I used to have a dog named Pochi.

pochi, to iu inu-o, katte imashita.

 
「花」という歌を歌いました She sang a song called "Flower".
 "hana" to iu uta-o utaimashita.
