いちじかん
 

The duration of an activity is expressed with a bare noun, like いちじかん - ichi-ji-kan.
Such nouns are not followed by particles and usually appear immediately before the verb.
Approximate measurements can be expressed using ぐらい - gurai after ~じかん - ~jikan.

たけし さん を いちじかん まちました・待ちました
Mary waited for Takeshi there for an hour.

mearii-san-wa soko-de
takeshi-san-o ichi-ji-kan machimashita.

 
   
わたし は きのう にほんご を 
さんじかん ぐらい 
べんきょう しました。 
I studied Japanese for about three hours yesterday.

watashi-wa kinoo nihongo-o
san-ji-kan kugai
