~ながら - ~nagara
 

You can connect two verbs with ながら - nagara to say that the two actions are preformed at the same time.
ながら follows a verb stem. The second, which goes after ながら, can be in any form.

私はいつも音楽を聞きながら
日本語を勉強します。
I always study Japanese while listening to music.
watashi-wa, itsumo, ongaku-o kiki nagara,
nihongo-o benkyoo shimasu.
 
   
たけしさんは歌を歌いながら
洗濯機をしています。
Takeshi is doing laundry singing a song.
takeshi-san-wa uta-o utai nagara
sentakuki-o shite imasu.
 
アルバイトをしながら
学校に行くのは大変です。
It is not easy to go to school working part-time.
arubaito-o shi nagara
gakkoo-ni iku-no-wa taihen desu.
 
   
  Note that the two verbs that flank nagara must be two actions performed by the same person.
nagara, in other words, cannot describe an action performed while another person does something.
