Verb stems may be followed by the helping verb
すぎる - sugiru which means "too much,"
or "to excess." |
|
| たべすぎて は いけません。 | You must not eat too much. |
|
tabesugite wa ikemasen. |
|
| 早く起きすぎました。 | I got up too early. |
| はやく おきすぎ ました。 | |
|
hayaku okisugi mashita. |
|
| すぎる may follow い and な-adjective bases by simply dropping the い and な at the
end of the adjectives and then adding すぎる. |
|
| （高い）・この ほん は たかすぎます。 | This book is too expensive. |
|
(takai). kono hon wa takasugimasu. |
|
| （親切な）・あの ひと は しんせつすぎます。 | That person is too nice. |
|
(shinsetsuna). ano hito-wa shinsetsu-sugi-masu. |
