Travailler (to work) and essayer (to try) are

two 1st group verbs. When spoken their

endings sound perfectly normal but they are

nevertheless conjugated in a different way.

The present indicative of the verb travailler is

regular, whereas the verb essayer has two

conjugations, one of which is regular and the

other irregular.

В настоящем времени travailler спрягается

только как правильный глагол, а essayer может

спрягаться и как правильный, и как неправиль-

ный глагол.

· travailler:

      je travaille        nous travaillons

      tu travailles      vous travaillez

      il travaille         ils travaillent

                   Oui, je travaille.

· travailler:

      je travaille           nous travaillons

      tu travailles         vous travaillez

      il travaille            ils travaillent

· essayer - 1st conjugation (regular):

      j'essaye               nous essayons

      tu essayes          vous essayez

      il essaye              ils essayent

Example:  J'essaye notre nouvelle machine.

                   Essayez de manger 'Au buffet'.

глагол):

      j'essaye                nous essayons

      tu essayes            vous essayez

      il essaye               ils essayent

essayer - 2nd conjugation (irregular):

      j'essaie                nous essayons

      tu essaies           vous essayez

      il essaie               ils essaient

The 'y' which appears in the 1st conjugation

is here replaced by 'i' when followed by a

silent 'e' (in other words an 'e' which is not

pronounced). The 1st and 2nd persons plural

do not change because they do not contain a

silent 'e'.

Example:  C'est ce que j'essaie de faire.

·essayer - 2-й тип спряжения (как неправильный

 глагол):

      j'essaie                 nous essayons

      tu essaies             vous essayez

      il essaie                ils essaient

Буква "y" 1-го типа спряжения может быть

заменена на "i", когда за ней следует немое e

(то есть e, которое не произносится). В 1-м

и 2-м лице множественного числа "y" сохра-

няется, так как в этих формах нет немого e.
