Quelqu'un is an indefinite pronoun which

agrees in gender and number: quelqu'un,

quelques-uns, quelques-unes (the plural

is always hyphenated).

Example:  Demandez а quelqu'un d'autre,

                   c'est plus prudent.

Note. The form quelqu'une is rare and confined

to literature.

Quelqu'un - это неопределенное местоимение,

которое изменяется по родам и числам:

quelqu'un, quelques-uns, quelques-unes

(во мн. ч. всегда пишется через дефис).

Пример: Demandez а quelqu'un d'autre,

Пример: c'est plus prudent.

Примечание: форма quelqu'une употребляется

редко и только в литературном языке.

Depending on its agreement in gender and

number, this pronoun may express various

things:

· in the masculine singular (quelqu'un)

it refers to an indeterminate person:

Example:    Quelqu'un vous demande ce

                   qui ne va pas.

                   Quelqu'un vient !

Note. Quelqu'un is only used in positive sentences.

The indefinite pronoun 'personne' is used with

negative sentences.

Example:     Personne ne vous demande ce qui ne va

                   pas.

Изменяясь по родам и числам, местоимение

quelqu'un может иметь разные значения.

· его употребляют в м. р. ед. ч. (quelqu'un),

   говоря о неизвестном человеке.

back to a previously mentioned noun:

(quelques-uns, quelques-unes), чтобы обозна-

чить неопределенное количество людей или

предметов и не повторять существительное.
