Take care when writing the words 'peut' and 'кtre' side by side.

A hyphen is used if they constitute an

adverb (in this case it is generally possible to

leave out the adverb without altering the

construction of the sentence).

Example: Oh attendez ! J'ai peut-кtre

                  quelque chose.

                  Vous voulez peut-кtre essayer la

                  taille au-dessus ?

Внимание! Peut и кtre не всегда пишутся через

дефис.

Дефис ставится, если речь идет о наречии

(в данном случае это наречие можно опустить

без ущерба для конструкции предложения).

Примеры:  Oh attendez ! J'ai peut-кtre quelque

                  chose.

                  Vous voulez peut-кtre essayer la

                  taille au-dessus ?

The hyphen is not used if they constitute a verb

phrase (the verb pouvoir - may, might - in the

3rd person singular of the present indicative

followed by the infinitive of the verb кtre - to

be).

Example: Oщ peut кtre le bureau de réception ?

Note. In this case the 't' of peut is not pronounced

as it is in the adverb.

Дефис не ставится, если речь идет о глагольной

группе (глагол pouvoir в 3-м лице ед. ч. настоя-

щего времени с глаголом кtre в инфинитиве).

Пример: Oщ peut кtre le bureau de rйception ?

Примечание: в слове peut в этом случае t не

произносится.
