Beaucoup is an adverb used to express an undetermined large quantity. If the noun that follows is a count noun, it goes into the plural. An uncount noun is therefore left  in the singular.

Example:

Je vois beaucoup de personnes qui attendent.

Beaucoup d'йtudiants ont manifestй contre le racisme.

Il faut avoir beaucoup de patience avec les enfants.

Beaucoup - наречие, которое выражает неопределенное количество. Если существительное, следующее за этим наречием, исчисляемое, то  оно употребляется во множественном числе, а если неисчисляемое - в единственном.

Примеры:

Je vois beaucoup de personnes qui attendent.

Beaucoup d'йtudiants ont manifestй contre le

racisme.

Il faut avoir beaucoup de patience avec les enfants.
