The expressions tiens and tenez, the

imperatives of the verb tenir (to hold), are

often used in spoken language to convey

surprise or sarcasm.

They may be accompanied by the conjunction

donc (so, therefore) and are often preceded or

followed by commas.

Example:  Tenez donc ! Voilа un policier !

                   Oh, lа lа ! Зa tombe bien, tiens !

                   Tiens, j'ai eu de la chance de m'en

                   sortir sans blessure grave !

В разговорной речи часто используются

слова tiens и tenez, которые являются

формами повелительного наклонения от

глагола tenir и выражают удивление или

иронию.

Они могут сопровождаться союзом donc

и выделяться запятыми.
