In general, when a qualifying adjective accompanies

a noun, the adjective follows the noun.

Example:     Avez-vous les cheveux blonds ?

                   C'est une plage de sable fin.

However, some common, short adjectives may go

in front of the noun. Here are some examples:

'beau / joli' (beautiful, good-looking / nice, pretty),

'bon / mauvais' (good / bad), 'petit / grand / gros'

(small / tall / big, fat), 'double / demi' (double / half),

'autre / mкme' (other / same), 'nouveau / jeune / vieux'

(new / young / old).

Example:     Etes-vous une jolie femme ?

                   Il faut que j'achиte un nouveau tuba.

Но есть несколько прилагательных, часто упо-

требляемых или очень коротких, которые могут

стоять перед существительным. Вот некоторые

из них: beau/joli, bon/mauvais, petit/grand/gros,

double/demi, autre/mкme, nouveau/jeune/vieux.

Примеры:  Etes-vous une jolie femme ?

                   Il faut que j'achиte un nouveau tuba.

Certain adjectives change meaning according to

their position in the sentence. When they are in

front of the noun, they are generally more

subjective:

Example:          

Un grand homme. (moral sense)

Un homme grand. (physical sense)

Une seule femme. (there is only one)

Une femme seule. (alone)

Un curieux pкcheur. (strange)

Un pкcheur curieux. (inquisitive)

Значение некоторых прилагательных изменяет-

ся в зависимости от позиции в предложении.

Если прилагательное стоит перед существи-

тельным, то обычно оно выражает более субъ-

ективное свойство.

Примеры:

Un grand homme (великий)

Un homme grand (рослый)

Une seule femme (единственная)

Une femme seule (одинокая)

Un curieux pкcheur (странный)

Un pкcheur curieux (любопытный)
