Note that even though et and est are

pronounced in a very similar way, they are

two words with very different meanings.

· et is a coordinating conjunction which

allows words, groups of words, clauses or

sentences of the same nature or construction

to be linked to one another.

Example:  Je suis perdu car la ville est grande

                   et toutes les rues se ressemblent.

                   Apportez-moi l'addition et je vous

                   donnerai ma carte.

Внимание! Произношение слов et и est

очень похоже, однако это два разных слова.

· et - это сочинительный союз, который

связывает слова, группы слов и предложения

с одинаковыми свойствами и конструкцией.

· est is the 3rd person singular of the present

indicative of the verb 'кtre' (to be).

Example:  C'est йcrit sur ce papier.

                   La viande n'est pas cuite !

Note. To check that the word in question is

from the verb 'кtre' and is not the coordinating

conjunction, the word est can be replaced by

another form of the verb 'кtre': 'C'йtait йcrit sur ce

papier.'

· est - это форма 3-го лица ед. ч. настоящего

времени изъявительного наклонения

глагола кtre.

Примеры: C'est йcrit sur ce papier.

                   La viande n'est pas cuite !

Примечание: чтобы быть уверенным, что речь идет

именно о глаголе кtre, а не о сочинительном

союзе, можно заменить est другой формой глагола

кtre: "C'йtait йcrit sur ce papier".
