1 — Le guichet de la poste restante, s'il vous plaît*?
2 — C'est* au fond, guichet numéro 7.
— Merci bien.
3 — Prenez* la queue, s'il vous plaît.
— Oh! pardon, je n'avais* pas remarqué que vous attendiez.
4 Diable! c'est que ça ne va* pas vite!
Enfin, voici mon tour (1).
5 — Y a-t-il quelque chose au nom de John Turner?
6 — Avez-vous une pièce (2) d'identité?
— Oui, voici mon passeport.
7 — Voici deux lettres pour vous;
cela fait* soixante centimes à percevoir (3).
8 Vous n'avez pas de petite monnaie? Merci, cela m'arrange mieux.
9 — Je voudrais* expédier (4) une lettre recommandée.
— Au guichet 2.
10 — Allons* bon!
Il y a encore une queue. Enfin, patientons.
11 — Voulez-vous me recommander cette lettre?
— Remplissez d'abord une formule de recommandation ;
12 vous en avez là-bas, sur la table.
13 — Pas de chance! J'ai attendu pour rien. Remplissons la formule.
14 Expéditeur... Destinataire... Voilà qui est fait.
15 Une autre fois, je saurai* comment m'y prendre* (5).
16 Je vais aussi acheter quelques timbres, pendant que j'y suis.		 — 1 The box for poste restante, if you please?

There is another queue. Well (At last), let us be patient.
— 11 Will you register this letter for me?
— First fill up a registration form,
— 12 you will find some down there, on the table.
— 13 No luck ! I have been waiting for nothing. Let us fill up the form.
— 14 Sender... Addressee... There, that is done.
— 15 Another time, I shall know how to go (take myself) about it.
— 16 I am also going to buy some stamps, while I am about it.

Notons :
C'est la porte au fond :
It is the door at the far end, or the last door.

Au fond (ou Après tout) ce n'est pas si difficile :
