Je n'en ai pas l'habitude I am not used to it (I have not the habit of it)
1 Il faisait si beau que nos amis décidèrent de se promener jusqu'au déjeuner,
2 et de remettre à l'après-midi la visite de l'intérieur du château (1).
3 Vers onze heures et demie, les enfants commencèrent à se plaindre (2) de la faim,
4 et on se dirigea (3) vers un restaurant que M. Duval connaissait dans la ville.
5 Chacun mangea (3) de bon appétit,
6 et M. Duval régla l'addition, malgré les protestations de Paul,
7 qui obtint cependant d'offrir le café.
8 Les enfants n'y avaient pas droit,
9 mais leur mère leur donna à chacun un « canard »,
10 c'est-à-dire un morceau de sucre trempé (4) dans son café,
11 pour les récompenser d'avoir été bien sages.
12 — Une cigarette? dit Paul à Mme Duval.
13 — Oh! Monsieur, je n'en ai pas l'habitude.
14 — Essayez pour une fois; vous verrez qu'elles sont très douces (5).
15 Et Mme Duval se laissa persuader (6).		 1 It was so fine that our friends decided to keep walking until lunch-time,

— 13 Oh (Sir), I am not used to it.
— 14 Try for once; you will see (that) they are very mild.
— 15 And Mme D. let herself be persuaded.
