Un petit tour après dîner A little stroll after dinner
1 Paul mange encore une aile de poulet (1),
2 un artichaut, du camembert, et boit une demi-bouteille de vin ordinaire.
3 L'addition se monte à onze francs,
4 y compris un franc de pain et couvert (2)
5 et douze pour cent de service.
6 Il n'est que huit heures et quart, et Paul,
7 qui veut se coucher de bonne heure (3),
8 décide de faire un petit tour sur les grands boulevards.
9 En consultant son plan de Paris, il voit qu'ils sont tout près.
10 Il y a foule sur les boulevards,
11 aussi bien sur les trottoirs qu'aux terrasses des cafés.
12 Les magasins sont fermés, mais la plupart des devantures restent éclairées (4).
13 Les réclames lumineuses (5) brillent de tous côtés,
14 et çà et là (6) un cinéma ou un théâtre fait une débauche de lumière.		 — 1 P. still eats a chicken wing.
