On réclame (N. 2) Mme Duval Mme Duval is in demand (One demands Mme D.)
1 Le fracas de la radio surprend (1) Mme Duval
2 en plein milieu de sa toilette.
3 Elle se dépêche (2) de la terminer,
4 en (3) pensant aux enfants,
5 qui sûrement vont réclamer leur chocolat.
6 Car tous les dimanches ils prennent leur chocolat au lit.
7 En effet, à peine est-elle sortie (4) de la salle de bains
8 qu'elle entend (5) appeler de deux côtés à la fois :
9 — Maman! — Petite mère!
10 — Voilà, mes chéris! Un peu de patience!
11 Et comme elle porte les deux tasses de chocolat fumant (6)
12 avec du pain beurré (7),
13 elle entend une autre voix, celle de M. Duval :
14 — Marguerite! Et mon café?		 — 1 The uproar (fracas) of the radio surprises Mme D.
— 2 right in the (in full) middle of her toilet.
— 3 She hastens (dispatches herself) to finish it,
— 4 (in) thinking of (at) the children,
— 5 who will be sure to call for (request) their chocolate.
— 6 For every Sunday (all the S.) they have their chocolate in bed.
— 7 Indeed (in effect), she is hardly out of the bath-room
— 8 before (that) she hears calls (to call) from both (two) sides at once (at the time) :
— 9 Mummie! — (Little) Mother !
— 10 There, my darlings ! A little (of) patience !
— 11 And as she takes (carries) the two cups of steaming (smoking) chocolate,
— 12 with (some) buttered bread,
— 13 she hears another voice (that of), M. D.'s :
— 14 Margaret! What about (And) my coffee?
