Aimez-vous les livres?  
1 — Que lisez-vous là?
2 — C'est un roman français, très intéressant.
3 — Vous comprenez donc le français?
4 — Non; c'est une traduction.
5 — Ma femme et moi, nous lisons aussi un livre français;
6 mais ce n'est pas un roman;
7 c'est un livre de philosophie.
8 — C'est trop sérieux pour moi;
9 j'aime les livres-amusants (1).
10 — Moi aussi; mais je m'intéresse (2) un peu à tout.
11 — Il y a (3) des (N. 2) livres pour tous (4), les goûts.		 1 What are you reading (read you) there?
— 2 It is a French novel (romance) very interesting.
— 3 Then you understand (y. und. then the) French?
— 4 No; it is a translation.
— 5 My wife and I (me, we) are also reading (we also read) a French book ;
— 6 but it is not a novel ;
— 7 it is a book on (of) philosophy.
— 8 That (It) is too serious for me;
— 9 I like (the) entertaining (amusing) books.
— 10 So do I (Me also); but I take a little interest in everything.

  Un frère is a brother, or a friar.
  As you have no doubt noticed, there is no liaison after et (and).
